January 2, 2012: "Add-A-Deck of Texas just completed our stone patio in Stone Canyon. Richard Weil did an outstanding job of conceptualizing what we really needed. Basically we had a very unsightly postage sized concrete porch jammed up against our back door. Initially we were thinking of a wooden deck to span over the old concrete porch and also take in another unsightly space in an "L" shape made by our home's master bedroom jutting out. Richard knew just what to do with that space and also convinced us go to a stone patio rather than a wooden deck. He conceived of how to lay out the curving front of the patio to accentuate a large tree there. They are masters at what they do and know stone, how to apply it with its natural form, and how to shape by hand what needs to be done to fill a space. I watched these people for the week they were doing the majority of the job and even that was a bonus to see how they do what they do. This was one of those very very rare home improvement encounters where the results were much, much better than my expectations. If you want to add an outdoor area to your home and want a superior design and execution and further want a trusted relationship with the contractor, you can do no better than Add-A-Deck of Texas."

August 19, 2011: "They demolished old deck, and built a new one, different design, using Fibercon composite decking (tudor brown). They built a pergola and installed screening on top of it. Also, built privacy louvers on one side. Installed lovely metal railing. Installed lattice work for skirt. My evaluation: This was one of the best experiences I've ever had! Richard is a master, he builds to last and builds to perfection. He's very creative. When he came over in early June, we discussed some ideas and he gently suggested a few of his own that turned out to be MASTERFUL beyond belief. He turned a two - level deck into one, pulled it in by one foot (one foot not as deep) and the new deck looks 2 times as big as the old one. I wanted composite and he directed me to the right colors to choose from, giving me pictures / photos and opportunities to visit in person his other/prior jobs using these colors. That helped tremendously. In any event, after our initial meeting, he sent me a bid with a computer-drawing of what it would look like. The bid also included a line by line itemization of the parts, so i could see what i might fiddle with to adjust the cost. He also provided a page of references with phone numbers. Then, when I said the price was in the ballpark for me, he agreed to meet me at the supplier so i could look at railings/composite/wood for the beams/stains, etc. in person. He revised the bid a few times as new creative ideas came up. He's an incredibly patient guy. Very understated to be honest. And, now that i've known him for several weeks now, just an incredibly nice guy. In any event, we settled on all of the choices and i signed the contract which had the payment terms referred to in the previous post. Richard then worked through the City of Austin to get the permit (NO SMALL FEAT) and off we went. He and his team, Russell and Austin and Steve, worked tirelessly in 100+ heat for 5 weeks to build the deck. Richard would have to leave to go do other bids now and then. Every day at the end of the day, they cleaned up and put away all of their materials. Russell, Austin & Steve are all the nicest guys you'd ever want to meet. The desire for building it right is beyond belief! They do it like you would do it if you were doing it for yourself (if you could, of course, ha ha). Just incredible attention to detail and getting it right. You cannot imagine how comfortable (after a couple of days when i started to see the pattern) I felt on this big project. And as the project emerged, I realized how beautiful the deck was. Just love my new deck. I strongly encourage you to contact Richard if you are in the market for a deck. I'm going to have him do some more fencing/metal gates around the property, and a little stonework in the backyard now that the new deck is done. He's amazing. Thanks Richard!!"

May 28, 2011: "The World's Most Perfect Deck is now on the back of my house. Richard is an artist, an incredibly careful and hard worker, an honest communicator and heck of a lot of fun. And the guys who work for him are attentive, friendly and loaded with helpful advice. Every single aspect of the job was professionally handled and extremely well done."

October 28, 2010 "I spent several years trying to create a design that would work for our location (hillside) and fit with existing house and landscape. I consulted other deck builders and landscape architects to no avail. Richard not only came up with a great solution but also build an excellent, high quality deck that met all our needs. Highly recommended."

August 15, 2010: "Richard was extremely patient in working with us to design our new deck. His price was very reasonable and he won out over the competition when we learned that he would be the lead on actually building the deck. The other bidder was just a salesperson. The deck is sturdy and beautiful! If you want an impressive deck, you cannot go wrong with Add-A-Deck."

August 6, 2010: "Richard was very knowledgeable of designs and materials to be used for my deck. He offered three plans suited for this site and and gave estimates based on different materials. He was very professional presenting a contract complete with price, terms, plan and description of materials. The construction is beyond any code requirements. The work started and ended as scheduled and Richard was always on site. He is very patient and takes pride in his work."

July 20, 2010: "Great attention to detail and to quality. Best deck construction I have ever seen. Add A Deck was a pleasure to work with. They did everything they said they would and more. Hard working. Dependable"

March 15, 2010: "Richard takes great pride in his work, and takes the time to do things right. Heavy construction that will stand solid through hailstorms, tornadoes, children, and dogs. This guy builds to last, and the professionalism was a treat. Cleans up, goes the extra mile, builds a beautiful deck. He also built us a lovely roof overhead that is sturdy and aesthetically appealing."

April 30, 2009: We're very blessed to have an amazing backyard. It came with a good pool but an old, poorly designed deck. We met with Richard and explained that we wanted a larger deck that took advantage of some unique features in our yard. With minimum input on our part, he presented a design that we absolutely loved: from the combination wood/metal railing suggestion, the level changes, the overall layout to installing the boards on the diagonal instead of straight. Upon final approval of plan, construction began when promised and lasted a little longer than planned due to some changes in design on our part. Richard and his crew worked consistently and notified us when they were not coming which happened on two days due to weather & other project bids. Since they do all the work themselves, we knew we would have to share them while they went to bid other prospective jobs and we were prepared for that. The guys were very professional and respectful of our property. Their knowledge & skill in carpentry seems very extensive and their attention to detail is way more than we would have hoped for. We are more than pleased with the results and look forward to many happy hours spent on our new "outdoor living area"!

April 9, 2009: "After meeting Richard and seeing photos of their work at our initial consultation, I felt confident that Add-A-Deck would do a great job. They were very good at returning calls and emails (which many people don't seem to do these days) and they were patient with my questions and requests. The deck looks absolutely beautiful and this structure is VERY solid. I really appreciate their attention to detail and their commitment to building a quality, aesthetically pleasing structure. I would recommend these guys to anyone . . . plus their price was better than all the other quotes I received. I've never written an online review before for anything, so this itself is a testament to how strongly I feel about recommending Add-A-Deck. You won't be disappointed!"

April 4, 2009: "Add A Deck of Texas initially built a cedar fence in my back yard. I was impressed by the craftsmanship and speedy completion that I later contacted them regarding a large pergola I wanted built over my patio. The project was competed rather quickly even thought the weather was uncooperative. They even took the extra precaution to reinforce the post footings, something I have not even considered. I am very impressed with the work they have done for me. I am very much a DIYer but with the price and craftsmanship that Add A Deck does I could not pass up the chance to have a very professional job completed. They left the work site clean and respected my property and pets. Very trustworthy and respectable men. I could not recommend them any higher."

March 8, 2009: "We had a deck and supports for the roof built. Our house is unusual, It's a Quonset hut, so it's arched shape. This presented a unique challenge for the guys. They proved themselves up to the challenge. The deck and cover turned out exactly as we had envisioned. We are very happy with the workmanship and the price we paid. We would and have recommended them to our friends."

October 13, 2009: "Richard with Add-A-Deck of Texas built us an amazing deck. He used cedar decking planked diagonally. This alone is probably the best aspect to his technique. It gives the deck a very sophisticated look. Everything from the symmetry to the deck screws was excellent. These guys are very committed to quality, so therefore they may take a bit longer than expected...but it's completely worth it. They are affordable and work very hard. Our deck was built in the insane heat of July 09! I felt sorry for these guys. But I suppose they were used to it. They have a great work ethic and do precise work. I will definitely use them again if I ever move. " Pros: Great eye for detail and affordable"

December 29, 2008: "Add A Deck did a great job installing railings on 3 levels of decks and multiple stairways at my house. This was a large and difficult job but they were able to do it quickly and at a fair price. The construction is very high quality and sturdy. I would highly recommend Add A Deck."

December 21, 2008: "The guys were in and out without a hitch. Any questions I had were answered openly and honestly. I had questions and concerns about the design of the deck and particularly my budget, but they worked with me until I was completely satisfied and we came to an agreement on a beautiful design and a great price. We love our new deck and would HIGHLY recommend Add-A-Deck to anyone thinking about adding a deck."
